I thought it was funny…. I can load windows setup run the promise fast track controller 64 bit and then it tell sme that theres no hard drive. That worked but now my OS is slowly corrupting itself. Here is a free trial program that might assist you: Whallah, XP now recongizes the sata hdd so it can then format and install. If it was not for your information here I would have literally thrown my SATA drive out the window and called it a day. Probably was a driver issue. Everything works great — no problems. Usually it requires reselecting 1st drive to maxtor and saving changes. AMD Opteron dual cpntroller 2. Practically this means that a HDD which is not recognised on BIOS level will definitely not be recognised by windows whereas the opposite may be true e.

If either drive fails or becomes corrupt, you will more than likely lose everything on both. All I am trying to do is format my hard drive, however I cannot carry this out until I can get my computer to find my drive. I return so much stuff to them after awhile. I tried unpluging any other hardware leaving only the basic hardware components, same problem.

Have you tried a new ribbon cable? Can my mb be bad? With XP there must be some new way? All works well now- celuxe I am stuffing the drive full of odds and ends and such. Go back into the XP Install, hit F6, then S, and then insert the floppy, just choose the right driver it should be obvious.
Thanks man, damn I lost more than 4 hours trying to fix the problem… I found the solution here. Both the onboard and you add-in card is on the PCI bus, so your better off just using the onboard. Or would there be problems installing win98se on a sata hard drive or using sata optical drive for the cd?
